Welcome to The Dripping Catacombs!

I have tried to maintain a blog in the past and I just didn't have the dedication or the consistency to do it.  Although my previous attempt was a non-starter to say the least, I have decided to give it another go.  Admittedly, part of this is due to the fact that I have recently become unemployed and I have some downtime on my hands.  The biggest reason though is that I have this incredible passion for reading books and quite frankly, I always have.  Coupled with this is the real desire to have an outlet to communicate my feelings regarding this passion.  The majority of it is focused on the fantasy genre.  I read anywhere between 50 to 75 fantasy books a year and if I could read more than that, believe me I would.  I absolutely love reading and talking about books.  Hence, the creation of the Dripping Catacombs.  I hope that by starting this brand new blog, I can satisfy two basic needs that I have:  The first is that whole "needing an outlet" thing, but the second need is of equal if not greater value.  Let's just say that I have read some really great books and also some books that were much less than great to put it nicely.  In the past, I have always found it incredibly helpful to visit my favorite book review sites (the links to some of which are listed on this very blog). Look, there's no real way to totally avoid reading horrible books.  Most of the time it truly is a crap shoot and a leap of faith.  However, getting the opinion of those who share similar reading tastes as you is a hugely valuable resource and one that should be taken advantage of.  This is especially the case if you only have a limited amount of money to spend on leisure purchases such as books.  I guess what I am trying to say is that if I can be even a small fraction as helpful as these people have been to me, then it would be hugely rewarding and a reason to keep this blog going for as long as I can.  My hope is that what I can provide with this blog will entertain other readers as well as give them one person's honest opinion with regard to the books that I come across.  If people find it helpful - awesome, if not - hey, there are a gazillion other book review blogs out there for you.  So look for some book reviews shortly as well as any random thoughts that pop into my head.  Hopefully, you get as much pleasure from reading my posts as I get from writing them.  And with that, The Dripping Catacombs is officially launched!
